Regular one-zone fares apply. Use your U-Pass, Employer Pass, monthly pass, FareSaver Ticket, transfer, or pay exact coin fare to board the Community Shuttle. For more information on fares and pricing, visit www.translink.bc.ca.
Routes and Stop Locations
There are 3 community shuttle routes at UBC. C19 goes from Alma and Broadway along NW Marine to UBC. C20 covers destinations and residences on the west side of campus including Totem Park, the UBC Botanical Garden, Nitobe Memorial Garden, the Museum of Anthropology and the Chan Centre. C22 serves residents on the east side of campus, e.g. Hampton Place and Fairview/Acadia. All routes begin and terminate at the north side of the Student Recreation Centre, adjacent to the diesel bus loop, and provide connections with existing services at UBC Loop and service to UBC Hospital. Service Design
The Community Shuttle service is not intended to replace regular walking trips on campus, but instead provide options for people with mobility impairments, people traveling longer distances across campus, people carrying large or heavy objects, and people walking at night. The service will primarily serve the mobility needs of student residents, others who live on campus, and people visiting the many campus destinations, including the Museum of Anthropology, the UBC Botanical Garden and the Nitobe Memorial Garden.
Community Shuttles allow for community-oriented transit to areas where traditional transit is unsuitable, and where demand is not sufficient to support traditional transit vehicles. For UBC residents the Community Shuttle will provide links between points of interests (e.g. Museum of Anthropology, Nitobe Memorial Garden and UBC Botanical Garden), residential areas (e.g. Hampton Place, Acadia) and, for those wanting to travel outside the UBC community, connections at UBC Loop with existing bus routes. The community shuttles complement the expanding U-Pass program and provides a foundation for a potential Community Pass Program in the future.
More Information
The Community Shuttle program is fully integrated with other TransLink Services. The shuttle vehicles used are the El Dorado National mini-buses which are just over half the size of a conventional 40′ bus. Features of the shuttle include:
